For many years the children have collected plastic waste in their village, as part of the health education program in primary schools. Every year about 150 tons are thus collected. This has 3 benefits:

• a formidable psychological impact on the people in general. People think twice before throwing out garbage and use less plastic. The children are very conscious about the environment and of their own responsibility.
• Second sell the collected plastic for recycling, which comes to a sizable extra income -4 to 6000 euros/year! This money is often used to provide scholarships to the very poor.
• Third the plastic is not burned anymore, thus reducing pollution and emission of dangerous gases.
